This is my suprised face

WCCO Television ran a story earlier tonight on a study conducted showing that Federated has thus far not won over Twin Cities customers. In September, they replaced the 150-year-old midwest-recognized Marshall Fields with the tackily rampant Macy’s brand.

If only someone had warned Federated. Warned them that ignoring us backwater hicks could have an impact on their sales. Warned them that cutting services in the interest of a quick buck doesn’t attract customers. Warned them that a good department store brand cannot remain a good brand with 900-some locations. Oh, that’s right. People did warn them. 59,172 people warned them.

I hope and expect to see the harm of Federated’s poor decision (which included removing the Marshall Field’s name from the nationally-recognized Chicago State Street store) to become even more apparent as time goes on.

I know at least one shopper who won’t be giving Macy’s one red cent this holiday season.
