In the Know

When I’ve blogged about WCCO-TV in the past, it’s been about their new set, or some other unimportant tidbit; synonymous with local news. But today, I’ve got something a little bit more interesting. Don Shelby — the station’s lead anchor — is going to be hosting a weeknight commentary spot regarding local issues.

In the somewhat exaggerating ads, Shelby claims that he will “break down the pompous” of today’s media and examine the “real issues.” I have to admit, I’m surprised. WCCO — most local news, for that matter — has a tendency to be all about the fluff. So this seems a laudable step for a station like this.

That said, WCCO may be painting itself into a corner here…
