Mixed feelings on this, but mostly positive. It does not present the implicit gay relationship as normal, but something unusual he has to be accepted for. He’s an Other, but McDonalds (and I guess his father) can learn to accept him anyway. Maybe that’s reading too much into it. Overall a good ad, and I was pleased to hear about this. Probably still won’t be going to McDonalds, French or otherwise.
